Abstract

The paper presents the results of a study on the daylighting potential in residential buildings, obtained through simulation and measurements in scale models, comparing north and south exposures of the main elevations of the Unimev, public housing complex in the city of Mendoza, Argentina. Besides, the electric energy consumed for lighting was analyzed, comparing unit values for all apartments in three buildings of the complex, considering their orientation. For the case study, it was verified that the illuminance on south facing elevations was only 17% of that on north facing ones, which was not reflected on the energy consumed for lighting.
