Abstract

In Brazil, wood has great importance as civil construction material. The reduction of native wood species availability and their effects in economy, associated to the expansion of protection concepts, created the necessity to develop new and feasible alternatives to a rational use of wood from planted forests. In this context the technique of Glued Laminated Timber (GLT) appears to be a feasible alternative to the full potential use of this material allowing the production of quality components and appropriate to the present and future necessities. This study outlines a comparison between the performance and the manufacture feasibility proposed in planted wood forests (Eucalyptus grandis), was compared to solid native wood (Hymenolobium petraeum).
