Abstract

The main objective of this study is to evaluate repair systems performed by a microconcrete or a mortar with corrosion inhibitor, with the application of an epoxy based barrier. Prismatic specimens of a reference concrete were made with addition of chloride in the mixture, in the proportions of 1% relative to the cement mass. The specimens were repaired and some had an epoxy-based barrier applied on the surface of the contaminated concrete. After the repairs, the specimens were submitted to wetting and drying cycles in 2% of NaCl solution. Results indicated that the appraised materials are potentially more efficient than a reference concrete when used to repair concrete structures. However, systems formed by the epoxy based barrier did not present significant influence regarding to the diffusion of the remaining chlorides from old concrete to the repaired area.
