Abstract

This paper is aimed to make an analysis of the hygro-thermal performance of ventilated facade in a real case study located at Florianopolis, Brazil. The two rooms faced west and have any window. In the first part of the experiment the isothermal performance of the two singles sheet façade was verified. After that, the west facade of the two rooms was duplicated by introducing an air cavity without any ventilation. In the second part of the experiment, holes were introduced trough out the west facade of the room A in accordance with the ventilation conditions proposed by Brazilian Committee of Civil construction CB02 in the Brazilian Standard Project: Thermal Performance in Buildings. The facade of the room B was kept in the original state and was used as control in the experiment. The measurements of temperature, absolute and relative humidity intend to show the benefits of ventilating the west facade during summer time.
