Abstract

In this communication, an effect of inclination of condensing cover on convective mass transfer coefficient in passive solar still has been studied. Three solar still with effective basin area of 1 m2 for different inclination of condensing cover namely 15o, 30o and 45o have been considered. Outdoor experiments have been conducted for Delhi climatic condition. Hourly variations of water, vapor, and cover temperature along with yield have been measured. It has been observed that the daily yield is maximum for 15o inclination of condensing cover during summer period. Regression analysis is used to determine the convective heat and mass transfer coefficient for outdoor condition.
