Abstract

This paper summarizes findings of analysis of intervalmetered data from a sample of medium- and large-size gridconnected photovoltaic (PV) systems installed recently in California. More than one hundred grid-tied photovoltaic systems sized 30 kW to 1.1 MW installed in California during the past several years have received partial funding through the Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP). Approximately half of these PV systems have already been subject to metering yielding 15-minute interval generator output data. The total cumulative size of the monitored systems currently exceeds 17 MW. Key performance issues treated in the paper include energy production, power output, and coincidence of PV system power output with electric system peaking events reported by the California Independent System Operator (CAISO). Installed costs of PV systems are summarized, as are trends observed in the cost data over several program years.
