Abstract

This work consists on the dynamic evaluation by computer simulations of a building model, with important and common features of the majority of office buildings built in São Paulo during the last decade. Internal variations were analyzed such as temperature, relative humidity and internal loads, according to solar orientation, window walls area and the glass type used in each façade. The adopted simulation tool was the software ESP-r (Environmental Systems Performance – Research), wich output data refer to many thermal features and their relationships, that show clearly the internal gains and losses related to the external walls of the building. The analysis of the simulations results provided conclusions that generated recommendations for the future office building’s design, in São Paulo, in order to improve the performance of the external walls and to meet local energy conservation targets.
