Abstract

In order to evaluate the impacts of actions in water conservation programs, it is necessary to master consumption data. The option for a submetering approach reflects the point that the deepest is the measurement extent, the best are the data acquired. This solution is specially indicated when a single customer is composed by separated units (several buildings and/or different typologies of water use). In this case, specific characteristics can be attributed to each measurement point and its covered area, such as typology, period of water use, and demand profile, making possible early detection of anomaly consumption. The present paper shows the study case of submetering as an element of water demand management in the Water Conservation Program of the University of São Paulo - PURA-USP (Programa de Uso Racional da Água da Universidade de São Paulo).
