Abstract

Repair mortars are more likely to undergo cracking and, therefore, corrosion, than reinforced concrete structures. This basically occurs due to the high degree of restraint acting on a localized repair. For such reason, the performance of repaired structures is still a problem of extreme interest to all those involved in design, building and maintenance of concrete structures. This work presents a scenario on the properties of the main industrialized repair mortars available in the Brazilian market, making considerations on the need to make the two materials that will be in contact compatible: repair material and substrate concrete. It was verified that in the Brazilian market there are industrialized mortars recommended to the same end, however with very different properties and maybe presenting very different performance.
