Abstract

The Adapted Comfort Bioclimatic Chart (CBA) is based on the structure utilized by Olgyay in his chart, with the additions of basic strategies employed in the Givoni bioclimatic chart, and the advances on the comfort theories recently presented by ASHRAE. On this chart basis, as a result of individual work by the author, new areas have been included. The ABC also feeds on the information the author has obtained from a group of over 2 000 students at the Scholl of Architecture of Madrid, with whom he experimented for three years in the search for new limits to the comfort areas, based on the effect caused by the activity and the clothing under the sensation of heat. The diagram, with the only climate variable, was elaborated for certain conditions of conventional use. The established activity was 1,25 met typical of houses or offices; the clothing was 1 clo corresponding to level 2 or medium, the most frequent all year round; the air was totally calm; the walls at the same room temperature, so as not to favor summer or winter conditions.
