Abstract

The project refers to a group of buildings located in Bragança Paulista, distant approximately 100km from the city of Sao Paulo, composed by a rail station, a provisioning center, a public market, an agrotechnical school and a group of greenhouses. The idea is that such a nucleus would contribute to the affirmation of the city of Bragança as center of reference for the regional economy, emphasizing environmental and educational subjects. Investing on the catalytic potential of the activities already established in the city, one believes that this same program could be implemented, in smaller scales, in the neighboring cities. A far reaching study of the natural (climate, relief, hydrography), the urban and the socioeconomic environments related to the area was accomplished to support the masterplan, proposing guidelines referring to regional planning for the public administrations of the ten involved cities. The design of the buildings is based on the features of the local landscape, making use of the mountainous relief, of the Jaguari river dam and of the shapes formed by the areas of agricultural plantations. Allied to that point and to the correct siting on the land, the best use of the natural lighting and of the winds, and the handling of pluvial waters were privileged, besides photovoltaic panels and low environmental impact materials. This proposal evidences the necessity for the neighboring cities to draw common goals in order to solve their problems and to be able to grow in a sustainable way.
