Abstract

Civil construction in Brazil still has much to improve in relation to the standardisation of components in order to speed the construction process, and reduce costs and wasted time and materials. Low construction productivity is still frequent at construction sites including those of wood buildings. With wood as the object of this research, the study work explores the use of "Eucalyptus Grandis" (a fast-growing reforestation species) for the industrial production of standardised partition walls. The study seeks to develop a product that presents better conformation to the production process and to architectural design, as well as a reduction of wood waste during construction. This is achieved through a series of specific laboratory tests that define the desirable characteristics of the final product.
