Abstract

The objective of this article is to promote a fusion between the Lean Construction and Sustainable Construction philosophies, through the utilization of a single model, which is called here “Lean + Green”. With this model, it is possible to join techniques and tools of both philosophies, intending to minimize the environmental impacts, as well as any other way of waste over the Life Cycle of the buildings. At first, this article introduces a fieldwork performed into 7 teaching institutions related to the Civil Construction at Espírito Santo State, with more than 400 graduating students interviewed, in that is measured the perception of them about the environmental impacts related to the Civil Construction. Afterwards, through the use of simulations games, the level of perception about “Lean Thinking” among the future professionals is observed. At last, after the classification of possible mistakes that the future professionals can carry to engineering and construction site offices, is proposed the theoretic model already mentioned above, the “Lean + Green”, expecting that its divulgation and learning can contribute for the development of more sustainable and lean projects.
