Abstract

The safety of reinforced concrete structures subject to vibrations induced by men should also consider aspects of the human comfort, besides the normal procedures of ultimate and serviceability limits states. It is known that the human comfort is related to the people's subjective reactions when submitted the vibrations of different types. The verification of the comfort from soccer stadium's users can be made by the ISO 2631 specifications, which consider the human comfort on the range of 1 Hz to 80 Hz. In this paper, the structural safety of the Morumbi Stadium was verified considering the crack pattern and its dynamic characteristics. The dynamic amplification factor and the natural frequencies were determined by dynamic tests and structural analysis. Based on the results of the experimental analysis, alternatives of modifications of the structural behavior are suggested, in order to improve the users' comfort of the stadium.
