Abstract

The objective of this paper is to present the results of the comparison of the thermalperformance of an experimental prototype built with Compacted Poured Earth (CPE) and a testprototype built with conventional industrialized construction materials, used as a reference. Themethodology involved a monitoring process through 45 consecutive days during arepresentative underheating period in the location. The results showed that the CPE module,with higher thermal mass, has a similar time lag relative to the reference prototype and adecrement factor of 1.05 relative to the outside temperature during a representative 24 hoursdaily analysis. The results are highly promising because in addition to bring out the potential ofCPE for thermal performance, it offers also inferior cost and low environmental impact.
