Abstract

It appears that the interventions in the architectural ventures of earth are not basedon concepts, strategies, and methodologies appropriate to the requirements, singularities, andscale of problems, contributing to the loss of cultural meanings and sense of identity. This papertends to accommodate prerequisites to tap into the concept of authenticity of earthenarchitecture in the city of Jericho with retaining its heritage and cultural significance. In this view,a theoretical model is constructed by giving a retrospective on the application of the notion ofauthenticity of earth buildings. The conceptual repacking of the heritage suitcase reveals aninterlinkage between maintaining the inherent significance of earth buildings and sustaining theaspirations of contemporary society. The main objective is to identify concepts and approachesthat need to be tackled in order to unveil the notion of authenticity and to provide guidance forits application in present and future built environments.
