Abstract

In the 1950s and 1960s Le Corbusier and Louis I Kahn designed a number of buildings in the Indian sub-continent. The architectural philosophy and vocabulary of these buildings inspired architects throughout the world. A recent study has focused on the environmental aspects of some of these buildings. The paper summarizes the results of temperature measurements and observations in six buildings, five in India and one in Bangladesh. The findings show that these buildings were products of careful consideration of climatic conditions.
