Abstract

In a previous paper we have demonstrated the possibility to develop predictive formulas for daily indoor maximum, average and minimum temperatures of specific houses occupied by different families. By using such formulas, provided that experimental data on daily outdoor and indoor temperatures are available, it is possible to predict the performance of a particular building in any climate, even when it is very different from the climate under which the original data were collected. In this paper, we describe an attem pt to base the prediction of the indoor temperatures on the thermo-physical properties of the houses. It is suggested from the correlation of the performance of the buildings to the thermal properties of the houses that the “life style” of the occupants may have such an effect on the thermal performance of the houses that it is difficult to base the prediction only on the thermo-physical properties of the houses.
