Abstract

Most of the computational tools used in the thermal design of a building are very difficult to use, and it is necessary to spend a lot of time and money to perform a thermal analysis of a building. For most small projects (single houses), this analysis is avoided. In the paper, a methodology is proposed and a model which permits the evaluation of the energy consumption of a house and the cost of heating, in a very simple way is exposed. The computational program containing this methodology, permits the thermal analysis to be performed in about 15 minutes. The main advantage of this tool, is that it permits different construction alternatives to be simulated very easily, so that an economic optimum can be determined. In this paper, we include also an example of an economic analysis of the thermal design of a building.
