Abstract

A system for monitoring and visualization of the energy flows in a school for 100 pupils in temperature-, volume- and flow sensors and is based on a 64 channel data acquisition card, using the LabView development system, which allows visualization and control by so called Virtual Instruments. The software developed allows to access the energy system over the Internet using the common WWW interface. The arrangement detects the most efficient way of energy generation for the actual needs: hot water in the rooms, the kitchen, the showers, and for the swimming pools heated by solar thermal collectors, a heat pump and a gas boiler, assisted by four storage tanks. In the future an extension of the system using multi-directional solar irradiance sensors will forecast reduction of irradiance by moving clouds and will even allow predictive control mechanisms.
